09/08/2010: Illegal Maize GMO Sown in Germany - NK603
Maize GMO, NK603, has been accidentally sown in several German states with low level contamination. The news was reported in June 2010 and this could affect maize crops harvested in Germany later this year.
NK603 is a maize (corn) GMO which is authorised for distribution in the EU however cultivation of the crop is illegal.
The sourcing of maize from Germany is at risk of NK603 contamination as a result and so manufacturers should exercise caution.
